What is Integrative Health and Wellness Coaching?

Integrative Health and Wellness (IHW) Coaching is a client-centered, relational approach to working with individuals collaboratively to address the health and wellbeing of the whole person. It acknowledges the interdependent roles of mind, body, and spirit, and the innate healing capacity within each person, with an emphasis on self-care.

An integrative health and wellness coach forms a partnership with individuals or groups to empower and support them in achieving their personal goals related to optimal health and wellness.

  • Rigorous evaluations of coaching skills, Motivational Interviewing proficiency, and documentation of 70 hours of practice coaching sessions.

Freedom & Rein

The word freedom is from a small group I was involved in 15 years ago about “finding your purpose.” One of the last lessons was about creating your own life “vision statement.” Something that focused you, something you could remember, and something that would help others remember you. Mine was freedom. Each letter stands for something that helps keeps me focused and defines my purpose. F-fellowship, R-restoration, E-encouragement, E-education, D-discipleship, O-oneness, M-mentoring.

Fellowship, being around others, really getting to know them. Restoration, helping others find their own purpose. Encouragement, speaking to others about hope and the foundation it builds. Education, teaching others about how values and spiritual principles can guide their lives. Discipleship-standing with others while they experience personal growth. Oneness-coaching people how to be in relationship with others. Mentoring-influencing others to be the leaders they are capable of being. It may seem like a lot, but it eliminates a great deal. What am I doing that can help someone else? Freedom comes from what I don’t have to do. Freedom comes from doing what I can.

The word REIN interpreted from other languages means inner most self, the controlling or guiding power, opportunity for unhampered activity or use. Rein refers to the kidney as the interior self, the most secret part of a human or their emotional center. A persons’ innermost feelings as they come to bear on decision making. What does all of that mean? CHANGE COMES FROM WITHIN.
